This weekend marks the first few days of May, and you should kick off your month with a streaming bang. Prime Video has played host to some of the best new and returning shows in the past month, including the near-perfect animated superhero Invincible's fourth season, which ended on April 22, and the ongoing _**The Boys **_Season 5, as Eric Kripke's global smash delivers an explosive final outing that is going from strength to strength. 'The House of the Spirits' (2026)

Not to be confused with the 1993 film starring Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Winona Ryder, and Antonio Banderas, this new adaptation of the acclaimed 1982 novel by **Isabel Allende **follows the Trueba family across a century as generations of women grapple with a changing society and its many ups and downs alongside their own personal highs and lows, including love, loss, and everything in between.

Translated into over 20 languages and selling over 70 million copies worldwide, Allende's seminal classic of Latin American literature is no easy task to adapt. Split into an eight-episode Spanish-language series, this adaptation is both ambitious and successful, already scoring impressive reviews. In David Caballero's review for Collider, he called the series "a grand and lush adaptation that can go toe-to-toe with the prestige shows coming out of the U.S. and the UK alike."

Jones' novel of the same name, this six-episode series follows the seemingly perfect relationship between Liv (Doctor Who favorite Jenna Coleman) and Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) as it is upended by the discovery of a terrible secret, and a revenge plot unfolds.
