Cage played the titular Satanic serial killer in the 2024 horror movie directed and written by Osgood Perkins, which became a massive, record-breaking box office hit that grossed $128 million worldwide against a budget of less than $10 million. It was announced in April 2026 that Cage and Perkins were reuniting to make another movie in the _Longlegs _universe, although it will not be a direct sequel to their previous film.

Now, it has been confirmed that the new _Longlegs _movie will be released in theaters on January 14, 2028. While January can be a difficult time for movies at the box office, this release date falls on Martin Luther King weekend, and as of this writing, the only competition is an untitled Disney film.
