There’s naturally a huge overlap between betting, poker, and prediction markets. Now, Kalshi has merged all three. One of its latest markets lets users trade on the outcome of a poker event - not just any poker event, but the biggest one in the world: the World Series of Poker Main Event.

Kalshi's 2026 WSOP Main Event Market

Will the 2026 WSOP Main Event have over 10,000 entries? Right now, in a new market listed by Kalshi, traders place the odds at roughly a one-third chance. Outside of just being a fun market, this also represents one of the first meaningful collisions between the worlds of poker and prediction markets.

Current volume remains relatively light so far at around $26,000 traded, meaning the incentives likely do not yet exist for truly sharp, well-capitalized traders to aggressively shape the odds through directional positioning.

Despite low trading volume, I could still see Kalshi continuing to list niche poker markets like this because of their user base's unique interest in poker.

How to Trade WSOP Prediction Markets

So, whether you're looking for an edge in the market or you just want a bit of fun speculating on the size of the Main Event field, how do you actually get started betting on the 2026 WSOP?

The reality is, it's simple! Follow the steps below and you could be trading real money on the World Series of Poker.

  • Visit Kalshi's site
  • Sign up for a Kalshi account
  • Verify your identity
  • Type 'WSOP' into the search bar
  • Select your position, enter your amount and open your trade

What Factors Could Impact Kalshi's WSOP Market?

Like any market, prediction or otherwise, several different factors can impact the price of this market. So, if you are thinking of taking a position on it, be sure to consider each of these outlined below.

  • World Series Attendance
  • Market Liquidity
  • Geopolitics

World Series Attendance

Let's start with the obvious one - Series attendance. The Main Event doesn't kick off until July 2, but the World Series begins on May 26. That means there will be over a month's worth of registration data at your disposal to use to inform your market position.

Of course, more entries in other tournaments doesn't necessarily relate to more Main Event entries, but there could be some sort of correlation. If you see registrations down significantly in most events, this could imply something telling about Main Event attendance.

Market Liquidity

Secondly, market liquidity might be a factor here. As mentioned earlier, there isn't the same volume for this market as there is for other, less niche ones on Kalshi. Therefore, if a trader opens a sizeable position one way or the other, it could cause big price movements.

Geopolitics

It's hard to ignore the current state of world politics right now. It's having significant implications for most countries, as the US is not exempt from the fallout.

The prices of accommodation, travel and the general cost of living could all impact how many people show up for poker's most prestigious event of the year.

Travel is the key one here. While the large majority of WSOP players are from the US, players flock from all corners of the globe for a chance to enter poker folklore. We've already seen flights being delayed, suspended and cancelled, so depending on geopolitical tensions at the time the Main Event is running, we might see numbers impacted as budding entrants find it logistically more difficult to get to Las Vegas.

Prediction Markets and Poker

Despite the crossover between the two, there isn't an abundance of poker markets available to trade on prediction markets. Kalshi offers this 'Main Event Entries,' but also had a market on the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event, allowing traders to speculate on the nationality of the winner.

Austria's Bernhard Binder took home the coveted WSOP bracelet, as well as pocketing $10 million for the win. However, it gained little traction in terms of volume, with just $11,204 being traded. This is compared to the $7,636,951 (at the time of writing) traded on the 'Who will be confirmed as Fed chair?' market that's currently open on Kalshi.

What does this show?

There's still a long way to go when it comes to poker establishing itself as a more permanent fixture on prediction markets. We might get the odd novelty market for WSOP Series, but the trading volume these markets generate is a proverbial drop in the ocean compared to the more popular, larger markets.

However, the volumes this 2026 WSOP market brings in could play a significant role in determining whether poker markets become more widely available on Kalshi and other prediction markets in the future.

Prediction markets involve risk and are not suitable for everyone. While many platforms offer tools to make informed trades, outcomes are never guaranteed, and users should never risk more than they can afford to lose. Always trade responsibly. Additionally, platform availability and legal status vary by region. It is your responsibility to check local laws and verify that you are legally allowed to use a given platform before participating.
