Just like in the real world, living in The Sims 4_ is expensive, which makes the best-paying careers tempting ventures. Upon its release in 2014, the game came packaged with ten full-time careers, each with two distinct career branches. Since then, plenty of additional options have made their way into the game - whether it's through base game patches, content packs, or expansions - and many of the newer careers can be even more lucrative than what came with the base game.

While The Sims 4 has introduced more active careers since the launch of the game, it's still more than reasonable to wonder what will generate the most simoleons over time. The Get to Work expansion pack was the first to introduce active careers in _The _Sims 4, which let Simmers tag along during the work day. Since then, there's been a plethora of different expansions that have added jobs like Get Famous, Discovery University, Eco Lifestyle, and more.

Chef (§9,840/Week)

Career Track: Culinary

It may not pay as much as some other career tracks, but being a chef in The Sims 4 is a decently paying, steady gig. Sims can become either chefs or mixologists under the Culinary career track, both of which benefit the Creative trait, which can cause the Sim to become inspired.

An inspired Sim will earn more experience from cooking, which will help them to level up quicker and reach higher-paying job titles. The chef job is higher paying overall than the mixologist. It also allows you to use one of the best fridges in _The Sims 4 _for free as an added job perk.

Funeral Director (§10,560/Week)

Career Track: Undertaker

_ The Sims 4 Life & Death Funeral Director comforting family member/friend of someone who has died

The Sims 4: Life and Death _introduced the Undertaker career path, and following this grim possibility can have some appreciable rewards. Going down the Mortician branch will lead you to the Mortician role at rank 10, which will net your Sim a cool §435 an hour.

Even better, however, is aspiring to become a Funeral Director instead, as you'll earn §440 an hour. Working four days a week for just six hours each day, that adds up to §10,560, making this a lucrative career. It might not be the best fit for every Sim, but it's a great choice for the Halloween season or any Sim with a bit of an Addams Family inclination.

Extraterrestrial Explorer (§11,115/Week)

Career Track: Scientist

_ A scientist backs off from an explosion in an Erlenmeyer flask.

Scientists have to work hard in The Sims 4_, and as an Extraterrestrial Explorer, your Sim will be clocking in for nine-hour shifts, five days a week. Luckily, that hard work pays off. At §247 an hour, it all adds up to §11,115 per week.

The schedule might become exhausting, but if you're smart with your Simoleons, an Extraterrestrial Explorer might make up some lost time by retiring early. It can also lead to some exciting ET discoveries. The real glory, however, is mostly saved for the astronauts, who end up with a higher salary to boot.

Chief Of Staff (§11,200/Week)

Career Track: Medicine

Medicine is the stereotypical, high-paying career path in real life, and _The Sims 4 _reflects that accurately. At the top tier of the Medicine track sits the Chief of Staff, representing positions like the head of a lab or the highest-ranking employee of a medical complex. This is** ideal for hard-working, intelligent Sims** who are willing to deal with the long hours the position demands.

While the hourly pay is relatively low (§288), all those hours add up to a decent §11,200 per week. Since it's part of the _Get to Work _expansion, this is an active career path. Players will actually have to diagnose and treat patients in order to level up, which means that it's a lot more interesting to play than some of the higher-paying careers on this list.

Reaper (§11,788/Week)

Career Track: Reaper

_ The Sims 4 Life & Death Grim Reaper asking Sim character to join Reaper career

Is being a funeral director not quite macabre enough for you? The Sims 4: Life and Death _went further with the Reaper career, which sees Sims learn the ropes from the Grim Reaper himself. At the highest level, a Sim can be a proper compatriot to Grim himself, and the financial rewards show just how important the job is.

Working 7 hours a day for 4 days a week, a Reaper racks up nearly 12,000 Simoleons per week with plenty of time off. It's also a cool way to lean into a major part of_ The Sims_ lore rather than simply take on the in-game version of a real-life job, making it an attractive option for long-term fans.

Space Ranger (§11,816/Week)

Career Track: Astronaut

For those who want to boldly go where no Sim has gone before, look no further than the Space Ranger career. Yes, this basically turns a Sim into an intergalactic hero, requiring them to blast off into space and defend against intergalactic threats four days a week. But they'll earn a solid §422 an hour doing it, which amounts to §11,816 each week.

They'll need solid Rocket Science skills and Physical Fitness to withstand the g-force of repeated launches and get promoted, though. It's an excellent job for heroic, imaginative Sims with big dreams. Unfortunately, Space Ranger is the lower-paying branch of the Astronaut career track, so if money's a Sim's primary concern, they might be better off going the Interstellar Smuggler route (see below).

Business Tycoon (§12,000/Week)

Career Track: Business

Although Sims may be able to make a little more by investing in the stock market, some may prefer to take a more active role in their ventures. Enter the Business Tycoon, the dedicated career path for all founders, executives, officers, et cetera. Business Tycoons must work a full day, but only four days a week—their weekends, as well as their Wednesdays, are always free.

But they earn a more-than-respectable §375 a day, adding up to a solid §12,000 each week. Business Tycoon is perfect for confident Sims who take themselves seriously, but are still down to schmooze. They'll need both high Charisma and Logic to reach this rank.

Management (§12,000/Week)

Career Track: Business

This job takes your Sim into the business sector in a people-centric career that pays well. Similar to the Investor career, which also pays around the same, this job requires the Sim to be charismatic and logical. Since the Management branch of the Business career track deals more closely with other people, Sims will need to** rely on their Charisma to do well. **

Before you can go for either job, though, you'll **have to reach level Seven in the Business career. **Climbing the career ladder may take some time, but it will pay off when your character is raking in those sweet Simoleons with minimal input from you.

The Boss (§12,460/Week)

Career Track: Criminal

Far from the pickpockets and petty pilferers who populate The Sims' criminal underworld is The Boss, the highest tier on the Criminal career track, and the namesake of the Boss Branch. This is a fluff job—the underlings take all the risk while The Boss basically does nothing, working just four days a week and raking in §445 per hour for a total take of §12,460 a week.

The second branch of the Criminal career track, Oracle, is more about catching criminals than being one.

Another unique advantage of this job is that **The Boss only needs to work a few hours each night—**from 5 PM to 12 AM. So they may not be attending many dinner parties, but they're free to socialize all day. This is an ideal career for mean-spirited Sims, especially since The Boss' daily task is simply to be rude to others around them.

City Master Planner (§12,600/Week)

Career Track: Civil Designer

The City Master Planner career was introduced with the Eco Lifestyle pack and centers around urban design and planning. The Civic Planner career branch focuses on urban and civic development, while the Green Technician path focuses on green engineering, fabrication, and inventing.

That said, the top-level career in that path, the Master Inventor, does not get paid nearly as much as a City Master Planner, which happens to be one of the highest-paying jobs in The Sims 4. It's worth sticking with this path, then, if you want to earn more.
