Dinosaur Jr. Return With New Album and Fall Tour Dates

**Save StorySave this storySave StorySave this storyJ Mascis, Murph, and Lou Barlow have announced a new Dinosaur Jr. album called There Near, the follow-up to 2021’s Sweep Into Space. It’s coming August 28 on Jagjaguwar, a month before the boys kick off the second half of their 2026 tour with Detroit indie rocker Stef Chura. You can check out the full list of stops below, along with “Several Got Away,” the lead single from the new album.

“I'm not always sure what a song is 'about' when I'm writing it,” Mascis said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “I guess the meaning will present itself at some point. I'll use whatever words work. And a lot of it will be influenced by whatever esoteric mumbo jumbo I'm reading at the time. I try not to think too hard about any of it. I think it's a drag that Spotify shows all the lyrics to a song. What's the fun of that?”

Earlier this year, J Mascis and Mike Watt swapped cover songs for a new split 7”.
