Warning: contains spoilers for Fantastic Four_ #10!
Galactus’ ultimate weakness has been revealed, and it originated with an A-list hero. The Marvel Universe is full of powerful beings, but few are higher on the scale than Galactus. The world devourer has scoured the cosmos for new planets for him to consume for countless eons. Aided by an army of heralds, Galactus strikes fear into the hearts of everyone in existence.
Humanity encountered Galactus early in Earth’s heroic age. The Silver Surfer, perhaps Galactus’ best known herald, located Earth and brought his overlord to it, offering it as his next meal. However, after seeing Earth’s inhabitants go about their business, the Surfer had a change of heart, turning on Galactus and aiding The Fantastic Four in defeating his former master. Galactus swore off attacking Earth again, but he has violated that oath on several occasions. Galactus graduated from the pages of The Fantastic Four to become one of Marvel’s top existential threats.
Galactus was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Galactus' first appearance is regarded as a high watermark of not only the Marvel Age, but the Silver Age of Comics as a whole.
Currently, in the pages of Fantastic Four, the team is facing Sue Storm’s evil twin from another universe: the Invincible Woman. Bearing a strong resemblance to another evil doppelgänger of Sue, Malice, the Invincible Woman is taking The Fantastic Four down to the wire. And as seen in Fantastic Four #10, this evil Sue Storm has put a hurt on none other than Galactus himself.
An Evil Sue Storm Nearly Killed Galactus
The Fantastic Four's Intervention Saved Galactus
Fantastic Four #10 was written by Ryan North and drawn by Humberto Ramos. After defeating the Invincible Woman, The Fantastic Four rush to a distant world, where Galactus lies. The team is horrified to discover that the Invincible Woman compressed the matter inside Galactus’ body so densely together that it created a singularity within the planet-eater’s body. It then began consuming him from the inside out. Yet thanks to the intervention of The Fantastic Four, Galactus was able to live again.
_ Galactus Ultimate Weakness Sue Storm
The sight of Galactus being devoured by a singularity is a terrifying one. Galactus has succeeded in destroying one world after the other, and he is rarely ever opposed. Earth’s successful attempts to turn Galactus’ back makes the planet the outlier in the universe. It is worth noting that every time Earth keeps Galactus at bay, the heroes prevail by a thin margin, which makes the sight of the entity so thoroughly humbled even more unsettling.
Sue Storm Has Unlocked Her Potential in the Marvel Universe
Sue Storm's Progression as a Character Reflects the Times
It is appropriate that a member of The Fantastic Four would be the one to locate Galactus’ ultimate weakness, and it is fitting that it was Sue Storm. When Galactus first came to Earth, Sue was still calling herself “the Invisible Girl.” While contributing to the team’s successes, Sue still fell into the “damsel in distress” stereotype more than once. Her accomplishments were overshadowed by those of her teammates.
Sue Storm’s standing in the Marvel Universe has changed for the better in the past few decades. Today, Sue is acknowledged as the most powerful member of the team, and has demonstrated clever use of her abilities. No longer playing second fiddle to Reed, Johnny or Ben, Sue now calls herself “the Invisible Woman.” Sue’s arc through Marvel history has taken her from housewife to powerhouse, and her growth can be tied to the rise of feminism in America.
Past victories over Galactus were a true team effort, sometimes involving everyone on the Marvel roster.
Defeating Galactus single-handedly is another remarkable step in the development of Sue Storm, and makes her a force to be reckoned with. Past victories over Galactus were a true team effort, sometimes involving everyone on the Marvel roster. Other times, the heroes had to use weapons such as the Ultimate Nullifier to lay Galactus out. Yet Sue Storm managed to knock Galactus down all on her own.
Galactus Can Breathe Easy... For Now
Of course, the Sue Storm that delivered the (nearly) fatal blow to the planet eater was a darker version from a different universe. The name Invincible Woman implies that the power Sue Storm holds at her fingertips might have finally gone to her head. The Invincible Woman clearly has no hang-ups on cold-blooded murder, as Galactus found out the hard way.

So, thankfully for Galactus, the Invincible Woman’s plan was thwarted, leaving the 616 Sue Storm standing. 616 Sue Storm has a moral code that prevents her from using the same tactics the Invincible Woman deployed on Galactus. However, the planet killer would be wise to fear Sue Storm in the future, and her presence on Earth is a great deterrent.
