5 Reasons to Get Excited About Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro
You probably don't need an excuse to watch 16 days of the world's best battling it out on the felt, but here are some of the key storylines to follow once cards are in the air on Wednesday, May 13:
1. Star-Studded Cast to Gather in $200k Triton Invitational
One of the most anticipated events of the series, the $200,000 Triton Invitational runs May 19-21 and pairs poker's elite with Triton invitees, starting in separate fields before merging into a single tournament.
The confirmed pairings already read like a dream lineup. Poker GOAT Phil Ivey teams up with Triton founding player Paul Phua, fresh off his victory in the $150,000 10th Anniversary Special in Jeju, while Ebony Kenney and Kristen Foxen make for one of the most eye-catching duos in the field.
Poker vlogging superstar Ethan "Rampage" Yau partners with high-stakes crusher Alex Foxen, and perhaps most intriguingly, Triton regular Fedor Holz returns to the felt after stepping back from the game in recent months, alongside Austrian pro Jessica Teusl.
With pairings like these (and many more), the Invitational looks set to be unmissable.

2. More History To Be Made in $150k Triton 10th Anniversary Special?
When Triton founding player Paul Phua took down the year’s first $150,000 No-Limit Hold’em 10th Anniversary Special in Jeju in March, you could have been forgiven for thinking there was a scriptwriter somewhere in the background.
Phua, widely known simply as “Boss,” came through an 81-entry field to bank $3,226,000, defeating rising star Brandon Wilson heads-up to capture anniversary honors on the tour he helped to build a decade ago.
Now, with another $150k Triton 10th Anniversary Special on the slate in Montenegro, could the improbable become possible again?
3. Main Event Honors Up for Grabs in $100k NLH & $100k PLO
Triton Super High Roller Series Main Event titles are only won by the best, and there are two more trident trophies up for grabs in Montenegro in the $100k NLH & $100k PLO Main Events, getting underway on May 21 and May 24.
In Jeju, it was Ben Tollerene who underlined his reputation as one of Triton's best, taking down the $100,000 NLH Main Event for $3,766,000. It was his fourth Triton trophy and a second Main Event title, in what is rapidly becoming one of the most impressive resumes on the Triton honors list.
Meanwhile, over in the PLO Main Event in Jeju, Matthias Eibinger came out on top to win $1,787,000, adding yet more evidence there are few, if any, better four-card players in the world right now.
Who follows in the footsteps of Tollerene and Eibinger in Montenegro this May is set to be one of the main storylines of the festival.
4. Triton Tempo Returns After Popular Debut
First introduced during the Jeju stop, Triton Tempo** is back in Montenegro after a well-received debut, as we get a second look at what a chess-clock style system brings to tournament poker.
Unlike the standard shot clock format that resets time on every decision, Triton Tempo gives players a shared time bank that gradually runs down as they think, helping to curb excessive tanking and keep hands moving at a steadier pace.
The system drew plenty of positive feedback in Jeju and beyond, with players including Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth describing it as a noticeable improvement in both fairness and flow, particularly for streamed events.

5. It's Moving Day in the Ivan Leow PoY Race
Montenegro could well be the stop where this year’s Ivan Leow Player of the Year** race really starts to take shape, with added incentive this time around as the winner is set to receive a $200,000 bonus, alongside payouts down to 10th place.
Ike Haxton leads the standings after a strong showing in Jeju back in March, but keeping hold of that position will be no small task with several of the game’s biggest names in hot pursuit.
Stephen Chidwick, Dan Dvoress, and Seth Davies all sit inside the current top 10 and remain firmly in the mix, while defending champion Artur Martirosian is down in 17th but still very much in striking distance as he looks to defend his title.
The race won’t be decided in Montenegro, but by the end of May, the picture at the top should be a lot clearer as the field heads into the second half of the season.
