High Stakes Poker Livestream to Air on PokerGO Starting Aug. 25
High Stakes Poker will return to the air with a new twist. One of the most popular poker shows of all time will air for a week straight, Aug. 25-31, as a livestream on PokerGO.
Popular cryptocurrency poker site CoinPoker will serve as the presenting sponsor for the event, giving it another new look.
“High Stakes Poker has always been about bringing together the biggest personalities and highest stakes in the game,” said Brent Hanks, CEO of PokerGO, in a press release. “Seven straight days of live High Stakes Poker is something we’ve never done before, and we’re excited to have CoinPoker alongside us as presenting sponsor as we deliver what should be an incredible week of action for poker fans.”
High-stakes regulars Andrew Robl and Rick Salomon were confirmed as participants. Additionally, CoinPoker ambassador Alejandro Lococo will play. The sometime rapper Papo MC has gained more notoriety for his $16 million in tournament cashes, but he’ll mix it up with the cash game stars in this instance.
PokerGO’s press release said that organizers will reveal more details on stakes, players, etc., in the coming days.

A New Spin on High Stakes Poker
High Stakes Poker remains one of the most powerful brands in poker.
After poker tournaments exploded onto the national consciousness thanks to the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, producers of poker content realized they could appeal to fans with a cash game show. They largely ported over the same stars who powered the tournament broadcasts. Sure enough, fans tuned in to watch Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and other stars battle with established live and online cash grinders like Barry Greenstein, Doyle Brunson, and eventually, Tom Dwan and Phil Galfond.
After Black Friday wiped most sponsorship money from the industry, High Stakes Poker went on a hiatus.
PokerGO revived the brand with the tried-and-true tape-and-edit format in 2020. It has lasted eight more seasons, each generally composed of around 15 episodes.
However, the lineups have included progressively more obscure names over the past several years. The show has trended away from lineups including poker stars and recognizable pros. The reboot kicked off with the likes of Doug Polk, Tom Dwan, Jason Koon, Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, and Bryn Kenney, among others.

Top pros have been few and far between in the past few seasons, which have often featured Robl battling a bunch of wealthy recreational players. That’s great for Robl, but less so for viewers hoping to see elite-level poker.
Organizers will hope a livestreamed version of the show piques viewer interest and provides a higher volume of content.
