Warning! The following contains major SPOILERS for the Daredevil: Born Again_ Season 2 finale.Daredevil and Spider-Man have had plenty of team-ups in Marvel Comics history since they first met and fought in The Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #16, and so it was a no-brainer for Matthew Murdock and Peter Parker to meet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The two would naturally have a fairly dependable chance of running or swinging into one another as they are both street-level Marvel heroes who operate in New York City, though the MCU has not taken their potential relationship as costumed crime-fighters further.
It was one thing for Peter—who has apparently been exclusively Spider-Man-ing since Doctor Strange cast a spell that erased everyone’s memory of him—to not appear in the Thunderbolts*, where he could have rescued citizens from the Void’s shadows. But for the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale to end and not have Spider-Man play any role in it, either, is egregious. Thankfully, Daredevil and Spider-Man are confirmed to be teaming up elsewhere.
Daredevil And Spider-Man Are Teaming Up, But Not In Born Again Season 2
_ daredevil 3 cover showing the omen
Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett’s Daredevil_ comic is embryonic, with only two issues out as of today. It was previously revealed via solicitations, but this ongoing series treating readers to Daredevil and Spider-Man’s newest team-up/crossover is thrilling.
Overwhelmed by his enhanced senses while panicking and seeing if he can detect Omen nearby, Matt is unable to hear an oncoming vehicle that is about to hit him. But, before that happens, none other than Spider-Man appears and whisks Matt into the air to safety.
This is the last panel of the issue, with Spider-Man and Daredevil then having a miniature adventure in issue #3 in June. It is likely that Matt will inform Peter of Omen, but Peter is not likely to stick around for more than an issue or two.
Regardless, it will be wonderful to see Daredevil and Spider-Man interacting for however little or long they do in Phillips and Garbett’s Daredevil run, as Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has officially concluded without these two characters getting to share a scene. Instead, what the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale boils down to is an intimate protest within the courthouse that turns remarkably violent.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Has A Lot To Answer For
_ Spider-Man and members of the Hand hurtling toward each other in Spider-Man Brand New Day
No matter how much in-universe time has passed since Spider-Man: No Way Home_, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hopefully explain how Spider-Man’s activities were public and profound enough to earn him the key to the city, yet he was nowhere to be seen when it came to two momentous events affecting said city.
The Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale was no worse for wear by not featuring Spider-Man, to be fair, but the MCU could have gotten away with it, as it would be appropriate for him to be there and not simply a gratuitous cameo. Either way, with Matt now in prison, there is a higher likelihood than ever that Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s prison sequence involving the Hand also involves Matt, and we may well be getting an MCU Daredevil and Spider-Man team-up after all this summer.
