The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has tweaked its rules regarding table sponsorships for the 2026 WSOP. The official rulebook has 41 pages of rules, many of which are the same as last year. But a few stand out as changes from 2026.

Sponsorship rules are among the changes, as the rules surrounding them have become tighter in 2026. Rule 52 gets into it, titled “Participant Likeness and Image”:

If the Participant intends to wear logos, patches or promotional language of any kind, at any time, while seated at a “feature” table, producing event content intended for distribution via digital or linear channels, then Participant must submit written correspondence to Host Properties… at least 24 hours prior to logos, patches or promotional language being displayed

Sponsorship Patch Approval and Limits

The need for a 24-hour notice raised some eyebrows. Often, streaming tables at the WSOP are not finalized until the day of the event, at most with 12 hours’ notice.

But it appears as though a large sponsor entity can submit their logo for approval and it would be approved for all players who wear that logo, according to Tim Duckworth of PokerGO.

There is also a new addendum stating that no more than 2 players per feature streaming table may come from the same entity. GGPoker for instance, has thousands of players at the tables every WSOP with GGPoker patches on who qualify via satellites.

If there are four players at a table who are sponsored by the same entity, say PokerStars, only two of them can wear a patch. Which ones of the four do so will be up to PokerStars or the players. If they are unable to decide then the WSOP will decide randomly.

A WSOP official will draw high-card prior to the start of play to determine which Participants will be allowed to wear the logos of the common entity. After the draw of the high card, the affected Participant(s) must either cover the relevant logo(s) or change their apparel.

No player can add any patches, logos or promotional language after the start of that day’s session of play.

The rule also includes a substantial list of things that are not allowed on a player’s apparel.
